my trofeo is limited to 118 mph, wouldnt go faster, i kept it pegged for a while. Mabey if it was pointed down hill, but whatever

I went around a (normally) light corner at that speed, tires were screaming, but it wasnt uncontroable. The suspention unloading was unnerving though, kinda jerks the car around, but yeah.

I am INVINCIBLE, or whatever.

time for bed

And it most certainly does not piss me off that there's a limiter for US highways.
I once got my Beemer up to 120 mph on a freeway, straight and dry, at around 1 am, light traffic, cause some jerk came up on my ass at high speed and passed at the last minute. I was curious how fast he was going so I caught up to him. After about a minute we came upon a cluster of several vehicles in the right lanes. When I realized just how fast I was going to blow by these people I backed off and hit the brakes in a hurry. My car's in good shape for its age but I could feel that it's legendary grip on the road was tenuous at that point.

(Mr. seen and done everything here... ) I was in a roughly 80 mph wreck once ('72) while hitch-hiking (blowout, single car accident, flipped over god knows how many times, everyone but the driver thrown out, 8 people (?!?) in the car). Two guys got killed, one of them sitting next to me. I couldn't walk til the next day and was unable to work for about 10 days. Nothing broken, miraculously, but I felt like I'd been worked over with a baseball bat on every square inch of my body.

To be strenuously avoided, trust me.

Also passing the handful of cars that were on said road at that speed is scary! I wouldn't do it, he was blowing past cars doing 80mph in the center lane with a 100mph speed difference. Nuts if you ask me.

Not something that I would do, personally. Not because the road or car couldn't handle it, because they could. But because someone could change lanes in front of you, and your DOA. Speed differentials and other drivers is a bad combo, this isn’t Germany. People are not used to cars in the left going 100mph+ faster than they are.

Seriously speed is fun, just don't be stupid about it.
OK, I was premature. You've got some sense after all.

I've done 140mph on Texas backroads in my IROC (back in 1987), and I've taken my 1995 diesel to it's peg at 115mph earlier this year. I can find places in Texas to get to 115-120 without risking my life or others.

But it's a big leap to get to 180 on a public highway, and I certainly don't take a hand off the wheel over 100.
