Test your internet connection speed???
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
thought some might be able to use this, it gives both download and upload speeds |
Download Speed: 4964 kbps (620.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 619 kbps (77.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Seems fairly accurate..a lot of times with these tests you get inconsistent results though. |
you can try http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php
Which works pretty good. I always do the smart test. Mine is usually very high. even when I had my cable modem it was very high, but changed the cable out for DSL. saved a few bucks every month for it. |
Download Speed: 4158 kbps
Upload Speed: 360 kbps cable modem time warner |
Chicago rocks :D
Download Speed: 4879 kbps (609.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 344 kbps (43 KB/sec transfer rate) San Fransisco sucks  Download Speed: 1710 kbps (213.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 333 kbps (41.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Cable, Comcast |
Download Speed: 5088 kbps (636 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1697 kbps (212.1 KB/sec transfer rate) |
Download Speed: 157 kbps (19.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 61 kbps (7.6 KB/sec transfer rate) school computers suck... i should try it directly from the server... T1 connection anyone |
Slow up-load speeds. I guess that's consistent with cable modems? I see a big difference in down-load and up-load speeds. Would DSL be more evenly matched?
|
Download Speed: 13285 kbps (1660.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1798 kbps (224.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Cable, server out of NY, NY. I should try it from SCSU's servers. That school has an amazing connection, has to be T1 or better. |
Download Speed: 4049 kbps (506.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 358 kbps (44.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Thats what I get on my laptop through my wireless. Looks average for the set up I guess. |

Not bad for being in the sticks; it is the fastest available. |
I'd like to see somebody with fiber post their results.

Interesting I tested on 10/31 with 8500 and 12600 DL, today under 2400 DL ??
Justin, I have ComCr*P, and HAD severe dropouts, usually at weather changes. Like as the morning warm up occcured. They (over god knows how many visits) replaced connectors. Finally found the one at the pole was bad. Been near bullet proof since. |

This is funny...an old thread resurrected one day after I get the station's WAN upgraded from 16/2 to 50/5.
I've been using the "speakeasy" test for a few years now...gives you a "real world" feeling for what to expect... D = 39.56 Mbs. U = 03.98 Mbs. Now, I'll test it later today once everyone gets out of the building... This is on a "CharterBiz" copper-wire service. |
10 dl, 14.4mbps upload on FiOS. I'm in the middle of streaming a webinar through a VPN though so a huge amount of bandwidth is taken up by that. Not sure what the resurrection post is on about...satellite is a completely different connection than any cable.

That's resurrection... ;) |

Well, it seems the best city for me to download porn from will be Dallas.
Washington, D.C. is the slowest, probably due to all the Senators and Congresspeople hogging all the good sites.:D |

Glad I ain't paying for it - gotta imagine being "faster than 99% of the US" doesn't come cheap! |
I have 12/1.5 but can get 24/3 if I pay more.......no need....even a full HD stream doesn't max my connection.
