I still remember a line from George Carlin, from one of his performances I had on 8 track tape (yep, it's been that long ago).

"This country was founded on a basic double standard - white slave owners that wanted to be free".

As for the original article that started this thread - get real. More election time propaganda. The Dumbo party says that the terrorists want everyone to vote Jackass because we'll pull out of Iraq, the Jackass party says the terrorists want everyone to vote Dumbo because GW will keep screwing up and give them even more recruits.

Just so you know. History is NOT law. IOW, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Some things work for my parents and will not work for me and vice versa. I don't place that much faith in that saying since I don't believe that if it worked 20 yrs ago, it works today. I believe it MAY work today but don't bet the farm on it.

Didn't say I don't or do. You said it was justified. Just asking why? Didn't we do some stuff to the Japs and they attempted to cripple our navy so we couldn't interefere?

lets see... japan was conquering pretty much the entire far east... or trying to do so. we took steps to reduce their free rein to carry on war.... such as limiting their ability to obtain petroleum (sound familiar?). so they sneak attack us in retaliation. and you say that is no reason to go to war? i dont follow.

desert storm. iraq conquered kuwait. the us went to the un and obtained approval to eject them. and took the time to build a coolition of nations, (not the sham coolition that we have, ...no had, now). then took the time to build up an iressistable force and did the deed. then we got out after placing in place variuos checking measures. this seems to me a pretty justifiable situation.

again, if you dont see it, i doubt that i can convince you to see it.

The bothersome part is you take a group of competant stone cutters and strong laborers, give them an adequate supply of stone, tell them to build a pyramid in the desert... but don't break up the stones or muss up any sand!

If you're going to build a pyramid you've got to move some sand and break some stones.
