Got rearended at stoplight tonight
I was in my Volvo 240 at a stop light. The light turned green I started to take off the car stalled and then the person behind be went and tapped my bumper. She gave me her information and I told her I was going to take the car to the dealor to have it looked over in the case of internal damage. I think that bumper shocks, the bumper bar(thing under plastic cover) and maybe exhaust system mounts should all be checked. I have also heard about cars that were rearended having leaks caused in the back rear window, I would like to think that this did not happen. Is their anything else that I should have the dealor look at as this has been the first time and hopefully the last time that I get hit. Any other advice? Oh and also, I have major issues paying more then girls for insurance as a 22 year old male, which is an other rant that I will get into later. Thank, Nick

First off, clean out your flame trap and get a tune-up and all new filters. That might prevent your stalling issue. (or, learn how to drive stick) If the 240 is of a certain vintage, it might have the environmentally friendly (read: photo-degradable) wiring harness insulation, in which case you might start having electrical gremlins. see www.brickboard.com for help.
Secondly, the 240 is a beefy monster with honking big bumpers made of metal. Unless you really got popped, I doubt you'll have any residual problems. The bumper shocks can get rusty depending on where the car has spent its life, and the mounts for them can come apart from the frame. You can crawl underneath and take a look just as good as a dealer, and for only 1/2 the cost! (pay yourself in new IPD anti-sway bars) Thirdly, keep your 240 away from the dealership. Find an independent volvo specific shop- IPD is in your general vicinity and should be able to provide a recommendation. keep that brick on the road!
