Need small engine/generator info

Hey guys,
(I know this is an MB forum, but since the people in OD know everything anyway...)

I came across an old 5kw generator, Pincor Model RF-50HM2 with an 11hp B & S engine on it. B & S Model 252412.

I need an owners manual or any kind of documentation for the thing-especially the generator head wiring - just in case I need to mess inside there. I can find an owner's manual from B&S's site for the motor, but thats about it. And Illustrated parts list would work well also.

Right now, it is tough to pull-start (like pulling a rock through the mud) but it feels like it has some compression, I'm gonna pull the carb and head to see what I can see.

For some reason, messing with small engines like this is kinda cool. I used to think they were simple, but my last "project" (an MTD yard bug) didnt work out, so maybe I'm getting my inner mechanic slapped around a bit =)

Anyone else dig this stuff ? or have any links that might help ?

Those big engines definitely require some muscle to start. You hope that they have decent compression and only require two or three pulls. If they fail to get spark and you try pulling them for 20 or 30 strokes, you'll feel like your arm is going to fall off.

My neighbor has an 8hp Tecumseh on a 48" mower and I'm really glad that it starts on the second pull.

Make sure it has a working choke........or you're doomed.

it might also have a compresssion release for starting.

this makes the pulling easier.

We used to have an old push start driving mower, that thing was a real pain to start... I broke the string one day, and while taking it apart, found out that the string attached to a square thing sticking out of the engine, well, we bought a 12-point socket that fit on there, and it was a breeze to start that thing with an air wrench (Which I have since lost )
