If that was what liberal meant in this country then I would sign up. But it doesnt. Liberals are usually intollerant and opposed to any new idea that takes their controll out of the picture.

Many people who call themselves liberal aren't. Likewise, many people who call themselves conservative aren't. Take, for example, the concept of preemptive war. Aside from being stupid (IMO), preemptive war is about as radical a concept as any president has ever adopted. It is anything but conservative.

But, returning to the subject of this thread. I agree with GD's definition and hope that the Dems practice that philosophy now that they some power in Congress. I hope they don't overreach.

That's precisely what members of BOTH parties think of the other one.
