Ted Haggard, vocal evangelical anti-gay activist is gay.

A few weeks ago, when my wife and I saw Jesus Camp, a movie in which Ted Haggard appears, she stated, as we walked out of the theatre, 'That man is as gay as can be.'

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110AP_Haggard_Sex_Allegations.html

He has been very active in opposing gay civil rights in Colorado, supporting an amendment to be voted on next week, changing the State Constitution to state that a marriage is between one man and one woman.

He was paying for it and taking metamphetamines during it. No big deal with that except for the fact that he was trying to deny civil rights to other people doing it. Self loathing at its best.

Dirty Bastard. Nothing like telling our children not to do drugs and fornicate when we did it so much as teenagers ouselves. Oh, maybe that was just me?

That's odd ... The Drudge Report doesn't say anything about it.

Same with Michelle Malkin, RedState, and all the other most excellent blogs that have been flogging John Kerry to death for the last couple of days.

Silence. Sound of the wind blowing through the trees.

Now, I guess if Ted Haggard told a bad joke from the pulpit ... THAT would be news! Right?

I am still waiting.

Crickets chirping.

The comparison with the oceanload of crap that has been dished out to John Kerry over the last 48 hours is striking.

Talk about setting the bar to a low standard....

Many of us want better for our children then we were able to do for ourselves. For instance if Dad rode a cycle w/o helment and suffered lifelong injuries, he might advise his son to always wear a helmet. Is that hypocracy or wisdom? Suppose Dad drove while drunk and killed a family of four. Would it be hypocracy for him to urge his children to never do what he did? Examples could be multiples endlessly, but you get the idea. We truly hate our children when we desire that they make the same mistakes that we did. Only if you are so full of yourself would you want your children to behave as you did.

This is not a case which even remotely relates to your proverbs. You imply that the speaker has learned from the error of his way.

"Do as I say, not as I do," is the message here. Sorry, but I don't like people telling others how they should live their life.

O.K. Sports, what's the lesson learned here? Don't trust any career politician who claims public trust is their raison D'etre

At the minimum, the lesson learned is that my wife's gaydar is spot on. At the maximum, the lesson learned is never trust the anti-hedonist.
After reading the texts of the phone messages, I'm more surprised by his drug usage than by his homosexuality. I can see how he could be pressured into denying his own sexuality as a result of his religious tradition, but drug use seems more of a directly volitional action, pretty easily resisted.

Yup. Peel away the veneers of power and influence and you just might be surprised what you find. And its not just in politics.

I don't know the details on this Haggard story, but at least it seems to have gotten Lurch off the front page.

Good point except for the fact that I don't believe that those in congress are our parents really. Of course, they do treat us as kids tho.
