Who's in Madison, WI (Aklim?)

Anyone in Madison willing to go check out a Volvo diesel wagon for sale there for me?

Thanks!

Word on the street is to run away from those things! I don't have any personal experiences to share, however.

I have heard the same thing, and I have also heard that they're great. Very little middle ground! I was honestly thinking resale, but with my luck it would blow up on the 5 hour drive home. Probably best to steer clear and let a Madison hippie buy it for bio experimentation.

I will say that I've only seen one Volvo diesel that I can recall. I don't know how many they made, but I see a w123 or w126 that must have been made around the same time just about every day. Not including my own, of course. That would be cheating!

Indeed, the Benzes outlasted their diesel contemporaries... but, then, they outlast about everything, don't they? With the current market, I think ANY runnign diesel will fetch a premium on the open market. Just throw "biodiesel" in as a keyword in your sale, and shazam! Watch the buyers' frenzy. It's probably more of a headache than I need at the moment; better left to a local to pay with, I suspect.

Well, http://www.prairiefirebiofuels.org/ has a mechanic that is not shy to work on them and might give an answer as to their reliability. I mean, we can test drive the thing but how good they are in the long run is not something we know much of. I mean, what year and model are we talking of? This shop is pretty cheap on their repairs compared to a MB dealership. IIRC, 75/hr. However their B100 is also more expensive than the most expensive station even after you pay their membership buy in

Thanks, Aklim -- looks like the car's been sold already anyhow. It was an 83 wagon. If you see a silver Volvo around town puffing diesel, that's probably it! It was on Craigslist for $1000, and I think it had ~190K miles. Looked to be rust-free, but who know what was underneath.

Thanks again!
