vintage watch repair
Anyone know of a reasonably-priced watch repair service? I have an old Elge diving watch I bought at a market in France that sems to be gummed up... she runs for a few minutes, then stops. I'd like to get it cleaned and inspected, but I don't think the watch is worth much, if anything (aside from its sentimental value to me), so cost IS an object in repair.
Thanks!

I second the Timezone.com recommendation.

Try using Watch Service Company, by mail order.
They are good, and they are inexpensive. Located in Utah.
I am a watch collector and a regular contributor at Timezone (thanks for the plug, MedMech!). For more expensive watches, I either use a local repairman here in Denver that I was fortunate enough to find, or I send them to a watch restorer located in Connecticut. But I have found that Watch Service Company is quite decent for basic service work, particularly on inexpensive quartz or mechanical watches. Good experiences so far. Cheers! -- Bokonon |

Thanks, folks. I tried the local guy, and 1.5 years later he has yet to even crack the case open. That's why the watch is back in my posession! I'll check out the sites mentioned; thank you!
