overheating

hi i have Mercedes e200, im very new to it ,,,it looks like its overheating ,,,most of the time when i drive along on highway the temp sits on 79-81,,,but around town it goes up to 90,,,is it normal ????

Hey there. It sounds normal to me. Kind of unrealistic to expect constant 80 degree temperatures in town driving with old radiators.

i suspect there is something that is not working 100%, but is not a serious problem as yet. what year is this car? and a note about where you live would help as well so we have an idea about driving conditions.

a good pressure wash from behind of the radiator might do the trick. but really until it gets a little worse it may be hard to pin it down.

During hot summers it will do that. However, the thermostat in my 300 was starting to go bad. It would run at 100 on the nose no matter what, except on the highway. I kept thinking about my injectors (replaced just prior to that problem) or injection timing off raising my combustion temps, but in the end I replaced my thermostat and I'm back at 83 C.
