Looking For Some GOOD Headphones - Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
I'm in the market for some good high-fidelity headphones. Since there seems to be quite a few audiophile "experts" here, I figure I'd ask for your opinions. I'm looking for something somewhat "noise canceling". I don't necessarily need electronic noise canceling like the Bose headphones. Just a sealed driver would do, I think. I currently have a set of Shure E2c's. While the sound is decent and they make me deaf to the outside world, there's virtually no bass and the plugs get annoying after an hour. I plan on using these new headphones for home use and maybe long flights. I really don't want to spend more than $400, however, I can be persuaded to spend a little more if it's really worth it. Around the $300 price range would be even better. Used headphones is also a consideration if theres a decent savings involved. I'm currently looking at this set on headphone.com

These look like a good set to me and the price is right. Is anyone familiar with the quality from this manufacturer? Is anyone familiar with these headphones?
Your comments and opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Adam

Hi Buckwheat,
Thanks for the info. I my go with the E5c's, used of course. Maybe going with the custom ear pieces will make them more comfortable. I like the in-ear headphones because their small, discrete and I can use the treadmill with them on. Either way, I need more bass for my listening pleasure.

Lucky you! I wish I'd run into a deal like that once in a while....

Check out Sennheiser. I have a pair, and they're quite good. I'll try to remember to check the model number when I'm at work.

Most of their models are under $300, IIRC.

I've been generally happy with the set of Sennheiser 280pro headphones that I bought.
I purchased them through the DJ section of the Guitar Center store chain, for about $99. Apparently they sticker for ~$200 though.

In my quest for good sound quality, I underestimated the external sound isolation that these headphones have, and sometimes find myself listening with one ear, the other speaker cocked behind my other ear, so I can actually hear what else is going on around me.

They do not necessarily have thundering bass, but I have yet to find any headphone that can compare to an actual quality speaker set for that. They have good bass, though, and surprisingly sharp and clear mid and high range.

Just my $.03 (as I blathered too long to just call it $.02!)

I listened to a pair of the Bose noise-cancelling headphones last night and they sounded pretty damn good to me. They were about $180.00, I think. The noise cancellation was really good on these. Also, they folded up into a very small package. I find those more comfortable and much more convenient to use than the In-ear style.

Any other opinions on the Bose phones?

No high? No low? Its gotta be Bose.
Headphone.com is probably the best place to order a set of phones. Really aggressive pricing and if you call them up they'll be more than willing to walk you through a couple of sets and tell you why their great or why they aren't particularly great. If this is for airline travel then it will have to be a set of sealed headphones. They will not wear as comfortably as an open set but ymmv.

One last kick at Bose They're noise canceling phones provide less reduction than a run of the mill sealed set. And then theres still no comparison to what you get with an IEM. Sound also gets distorted with their compression algorithm and you also have to consider your dealing with another battery driven device to keep track of.
