My parents paid for mine. They paid in full for my Mercedes... however, it wasn't brand new... 5 years old and 68,000 miles on it @ the time.
I have great parents, and I'm very lucky for what they give me.

Ok I admit it, as a going away to college present I got my dad's old 1994 S500, since he got a new one. Some other kids have new cars such as my mate who got a brand new golf, it's worth only a little less than mine but no-one questions him as it is a small sensible type car. I think people just have a mental image that benz's are big, flash, expensive cars but in reality the you can get a used one for the same price as a new car of lesser status.

Yes, it's great isn't it?

As is obvious from my earlier post, I'm a big lazy pampered lout.

However, I really dig it when other, much more pampered louts say things like "la de da, a mercedes" or "oh boy, we've got a rich boy here." And so on.

Comments like these from people who have (parentally provided, of course) late model VW's, Toyota's, etc. Cars that (at least on paper) are worth three or four times as much as my trusty old benz.

My parents paid for my diesel. However I don't think it's that bad... they wanted to get me a Toyota Corolla/ similar. However I don't really need a car to go to school (i walk...) so I decided on something that I actually like.

Im only 16.....

I drive a W140, and im only 16. When people find out i own a "big-body-Benz" they think im some spoiled rich kid. But the only reason its mines is because my parents passed it down to me. If my father drove an Accord, and bought a new one, i would be driving that instead of a Mercedes. Most people dont realize the value of my car is (almost) lower than some of the repair costs. A 1993 300SE is worth $14,000? Maybe? And this forum sais replacing the Evap. Core is a $6000 - $8000 job! So....you do the math!!

I am 19 and was given a 1983 380SEL because it was a safe and reliable car. People still gawk over it because it is a Mercedes but in reality the value of it isnt much but to me she is worth millions.
