this is where I work on my cars...
55,000 square feet, air conditioned, 8 paint booths, even a clean room for wokring on aluminum, if the need should ever arise. Beats the hell out of working in my dirty little garage at home.

There are 8 Car-O-Liner benches, 8 2 point lifts, 1 Hunter alignment rack, and 3 sets of Celette dedicated fixtures for squaring structural damage.

One of the porters runs the "zamboni" every evening so the floor is clean in the AM.

Is that a rental place? I looked into a venture for a client a few years ago that was to cater to ricers and would have rented space and tools, ect...., but the liability insurance made it cost prohibitive.

Nope, it's Plaza Collision Center, we are affiliated with a MB, BMW, Porsche,Audi, Land Rover, Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac dealership and the powers-that-be let us work on our own cars as long as we pay for any shop materials we use.

That's nice - I'm guessing they don't allow any moonlighting there, do they?

Nope, can't do it for personal gain, just fix your own stuff. The other neat thing is that employees get parts at cost, and only pay a REALLY LOW labor rate in the service department, so if there's anything that's beyond my capabilities, I just ship the car to service and they repair it for very little money.

Wow! That's a great deal. No reason to not at least attempt any fix yourself - even painting!

Several guys have done complete repaints on theier own cars for less than $300 in materials. In my case, if the need arose, I would probably lean on one of the painters to actually shoot it, and either pay him "on the books" at the reduced rate, or just palm him a gratuity for his time, but the whole bill, even paying for his labor, would likely be less than a grand. Keep in mind, a retail full refinish in this shop would run $5000-7500.
