The anti-munchie drug

http://docnews.diabetesjournals.org/cgi/content/full/1/1/13-c

I had read about rimanobandt a few months back. Seems like they are using it in Europe now and it was on mainline news tonight. The concept cracks me up, because so many scientists seem to chase their tails: Scientists: "We know that smoking pot makes people hungry. We even prescribe it to cancer patients to get them to eat. Hmmm, maybe we can find the receptor in the brain that pot triggers to make people hungry and block it, like we have done with hundreds of other drugs......"

Now there's a pressing issue that's been ignored for too long.

Its working and has almost none of the side effects other appetite suppresants have (non-mellowness is the only one so far). Don't mock the possibility that there will be less fat, unhealthy people in the world.

I always thought that pot and alcohol had a similar, appetite increasing effect because they raised insulin levels, requiring sugars to match it. Does pot not function this way?

I can understand it might have uses for non-pot smokers whose appetites control them.

It did seem a bit funny to think that science was trying to come to the rescue of pot smokers with the munchies.
