This should teach the little thief.

Unbelievable. A mother has her 12 year old son arrested on petty theft charges for opening and playing with a Christmas present early.
I'm sure next the kid will be filing divorce charges against his mother.....

There is no mention of the boy's father. I wonder if he's still around....

Olberman is such a dip****. The article and title to the video mentioned that this took place in Columbia, SC, yet he said three times it happened in Rockhill, PA. Anyway, I know a lot of cops. If my kid was totally out of control (and had assaulted a police officer the week before), I would not hesitate to have a cop put him in cuffs and scare him. May not work, but probably more effective than a beating. If the cops were willing to do this, I am betting they were trying to help, not just 'responding to a call.' Good for them.

Olberman is dysfunctional.

Unhappy *** I really hate going to MSNBC... ***

...but, in this case, it seemed worth it.

First thing I noticed - the little "Worse/Worser/Worst" pictorial in the upper-right corner of the page. Typical of NBC properties - KEEP REMINDING US THAT THE WORLD SHOULD BE REMINDED THAT BUSH IS BAD. Pretty infantile in my honest opinion.

Next, the story itself. Nothing that earth-shattering. Must have been a...
S-L-O-W-W-W-W-W-W-W
N-E-W-W-W-W-W-W-S
D-A-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y....

But, I suppose some "Kids-Have-Adult-Style-Rights" non-parent Know-it-all, "book-learnt" Goody-two-shoes had to make it a story.

A
R-E-A-L-L-L-L-Y
S-L-O-W-W-W-W-W-W-W
N-E-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-S
D-A-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y.....

Here's what mom should have done...

1.) Re-wrap the present;
2.) Take the present down to the local Salvation Army;
3.) Give it to the SA Commander;
4.) Ask the SA Commander to give the toy to a needy child;
5.) The minute her kid started to put up a fuss, turn him over to the nearest government-know-it-all org. and let them put up with the brat's attitude.
6.) Mom then needs to get a life and get away from that area ASAP and anonymously.

Someone opened a post from about 2 years ago about a 15yo that got busted w/pot at school. It took me about 2 hours to finish reading every response to that post. (Some of us do WORK! )

What came to mind was a time when I stole (You don't "sneak") money from my mother's purse. She caught it right away. It was only a dollar. I 'fessed up right away.

The stinger?

First, the day of the crime: It was a day before my birthday.

Guess who didn't get a present, cake and the whole she-bang? Yup. 'Twas me.

And the further indignity? I, being the oldest of the six kids in the house, wasn't allowed downstairs for the very dinner (I had that withheld, too.) where everyone else had the cake and ice cream that was to be part of a celebration of my birth. My mother didn't feel like celebrating my birth with what I had done.

None of the other brothers and sisters were told why I couldn't be down there but, I can assure you, I never took another ANYTHING. Even to this day, I don't even like going near my wife's purse! Even when she WANTS me to get stuff out of it for her!

Now, did my mother slap-the-crap out of me? Nope.

Did she call the cops? Could have, but didn't.

She knew me well enough to keep it "on the down-low" but I can assure you that it stayed with me to this day. Did she have a present for me? Did she give it away? To be perfectly honest...I don't remember thinking about that at all. What I remember, more than anything else those two days, was the look on her face when I admitted that I did take the dollar. After that, dinner, cake, ice cream and life in general didn't really mean that much (No suicide thoughts, though!).

It was a lesson that burned, but I learned.

Today's kids? You've got to have a fr***ing committee meeting with every non-relative in the tri-state area before you're allowed to discipline your kid. And God forbid, you didn't get the state's sanction first. Once the state has their "fangs" into your family's child-rearing, kiss all aspects of civil-obedience goodbye.

First off, you have a bunch of non-parental units telling parents "how" they think families should interact. Half of these idiots don't even have kids.

Secondly, the state doesn't have the man-power, or the appropriate resources, to follow up on everything they think you're suppose to do. But, because they represent the "state" you'd better do as your told.

BUT, if you screw up, or the kid gets a "bug up his @$$" about how he's being disciplined, the kid dials 9-1-1 and sics the state on mom and dad. He's found his shield from responsibility...the state. All he has to say is "They hit me..." or "I'm being treated..." during the incident, and the authorities have to separate the parties and then your family is heading down hill on the long, slippery slope of juvenile deliquency.

As long as the state (or well-intentioned, do-goody "butt-in-skis") insists on inserting themselves between the child and parent, we, as tax-payers and media-zombies, will be forced to pay for the child's behavior, or worse.

A it's all because we don't want to, or can't, "use the rod."

And the public has to pay for the "spoiled child."

This kid's had problems before. The article says that he had previously taken a swing at a police officer. This wasn't about rummaging through his great grandma's stuff.

Olbermann is a trippy dude, man. He's got his good points but something about him is a little too "always on."

He's about the only real liberal that has a news show like that on the tube; Matthews is no righty but he's not a full on liberal either.
