Losing my job

Hello, Folks.
Last week, I received notice that my position with my firm will be eliminated in February. (Nice Christmas bonus, eh?)
If any of you are aware of a company needing a shipper/receiver; inventory control/warehousing/asset management kind of guy, in the DE, PA, NJ, MD areas, I'd be happy to hear about it. Thanks and have a great holiday. BOB

You got pretty decent advance warning. It doesn't do much for your holiday cheer, but I have seen people get their notice and then immediately escorted to clean out their desks.

Good luck with the search!

Thank you for the support. It isn't completely unexpected. My company was purchased by another, and the trimming has been ongoing all year. Just trying to do a little networking here. Thanks again. BOB

Bob- I know you'll find something else, probably better and this is cliche but when one door closes another one opens. I'll let you know if I hear of anything.

Kalifoneeeaaaa is the worst place to move. Too many people. Bad traffic. And no one can afford the real estate anymore.

Even in the worst neighborhoods imaginable, like Compton or Watts, small 1,500 square foot homes go for over $500,000. Go figure.

California -- the only state in the nation where folks call for Benz parts, identify themselves as "Dr.", and include an apartment number in their address.

Not to sound like a chortling Cassandra,Sport.

Now's the time to fix up that resume' so when you answer ads it can be emailed and faxed in short order.

Ever think about looking on Craigslist?helluva large employment section and it's all free.
Any trade publications dealing with your line?

While this doubtless casts a shade over the holidays don't be idle, look now and best of luck.

I wouldn't drive through either city at night.

Thank you, all, for the advice. I've seen this coming for some time, so I have been checking the usual suspects (Monster, Jobs, Careers, etc dot com), as well as for government jobs. It never hurts to go where you've gotten good advice in the past, that's why I posted here! With the notice I've been given and the severance, I should be OK through at least June. I'm not desparate, yet. But the more leads one gets, the better the chances of finding THE right fit. So, I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks again. BOB

I'm sure you're probably aware of it, but I've noticed that referrals from friends / co-workers / colleagues are the best way to land a new job.
