I wish here luck! I think the gridlock will help ensure the will of the people and not the will of congress happens.

On Thursday, Nancy Pelosi will take the gavel as the first woman speaker in the history of the House, and immediately launch a 100 legislative-hour march to quickly put the Democratic stamp on the new Congress.

Before President Bush arrives on Capitol Hill on Jan. 23 for his State of the Union address, House Democrats intend to update ethics rules, raise the minimum wage, implement 9/11 Commission recommendations, cut subsidies to the oil industry, promote stem cell research and make college educations and prescription drugs more affordable.

If the Dems can accomplish any of that, I'll feel a lot better about having broken ranks last election. I usually vote Republican across the board, but last year I deceided they had abused my vote for long enough.

I wish the Democrats well and hope they'll use there regained majority more wisely than the Republicans did.

What is her stance on the President's about to be proposed massive influx of American troops to fight in Iraq?

A very commendable start. It's about time some of these issues get addressed and not ignored. Let the Repo's fight aganst that agenda. America will being watching as 2008 draws ever closer.

Not sure yet. I'm sure she will respond when the decision is announced. Probably too little too late, that's my view. It's pretty obvious Iraq is not going to be calmed by adding more US troops. It will be an interesting state of the union speech.

They are already trying to cover up for Conyers, the new head of the Judiciary committee. He "admitted" ethics violations and will get no punishment, other than having to "monitor" is own staff.... Kinda like the fox monitoring the henhouse.

I wouldn't Judge the new congress 2 day's into it's inception. They have some pretty lofty goals on their agenda, and I don't doubt they will accomplish many of them.

I'm glad you pointed that out, Bot. How about developing that interesting item a little more. I think that could fuel lots more intereting discussion here and elsewhere. It's about time we had a new conspiracy theory.

Great - when she raises taxes, how will you guys feel then? Last year saw a huge increase in revenues from us citizens because of the tax cuts and a slamming economy. She's going to try to raise taxes, and you guys are praising her. Thanks a lot.

C'mon boys and girls, it's tongue-in-cheek, a joke my brother sent me. Please don't get too bound-up in it.

I cut the punchline, which said that this is the result you could expect by crossing aliens with sheep. Does that help?
