Insurance costs
Right now I have my truck which sits parked in my driveway for 90% of the time, as I often drive the MB to save on the quanity of fuel I go through.
I would like to look around to get another MB, maybe a wagon, just kind of for fun; the bug has bit me and one is not enough I hate to pay more in insurance for a car that is not being driven. At any one time I can only be behind the wheel of one of the vehicles. It seems ridiculous that I am hit so hard on insurance when at any given moment it's only on vehicle or the other that is on the road. With the possible exception of a comprehensive damage claim (which coverage only the truck has) only one vehicle at a time is at risk. Has anyone else found a way to get around this?

Is it seasonal when you use your truck? What do you use it for?

I used to pull a trailer with the truck and used it as my daily driver. Remember when diesel cost less than gasoline? When I started running the WVO for fuel was when I started looking for the Mercedes, as the truck sucks the fuel down faster than I can procure the oil and blend it.
Since acquiring the car I go everywhere in it. The truck often sits for a week or more at a time without even being driven. I love the truck and do still need it occassionally, so I'm definitly keeping it. The truck is also more comfortable to travel in for long trips and it's what I use to haul the dogs around for Schutzhund. The rate is not a seasonal thing. I wish they'd implement a system that when it comes to PIP and Liability coverage, as well as Collision, it's the driver that's insured instead of the vehicle, but let's face it, insurance industry is not interested in changing to save policy holders money.

Most insurance companies have multi-car discounts for vehicles covered under one policy. Contact your insurance agent and see if they have any bright ideas.

See, that is why I went to a diesel SUV. Because getting 2 vehicles in that fashion like yours would be too expensive in money and space terms.
Occasionally I tow a 8500# Toy hauler with 2 ATVs. In the SUV, I carry my 3 dogs. 110# Rott, 70# Shar Pei, 60# Am Staff and my 80# Pit Bull that passed on. Also, I use it to carry about 5000 copies of a weekly newspaper. That paper run pays for the vehicle. I use it as a daily driver for shorter distances because of the fuel unless I have the MB. The way I figured it, it was cheaper in terms of insurance and what not even with a discount. It is not a good anything vehicle but it is a good all around vehicle. Yes, it does use more fuel than a car would but the savings in insurance, cost of another reliable vehicle, maintenance, etc, etc, seems to pay off.

The driver is insured but the issue is the vehicle is going to cost different for different vehicles to fix.
