Crash 'em up in Portland

I think this first car in the video wrecked a total of 8 or 9 cars...

Here's an idea, don't drive a two-wheel drive car in the snow.

Actually I don't think any four-wheel drive vehicle would help in that situation. What appears to happen is a loss of traction because of a combination of ice, snow and a hill going down. The van going down the hill sideways tells it all. What you need are chains on the tires for traction or don't drive in that area!

Looks like its the 4 wheel brakes that weren't working in that video, how would 4wd help you go down an iced up hill? I see more yahoos that think their 4wd will somehow magically help them stop, and I've seen lots of them wipe out too. I think the first one of those was 4wd or awd also, he tried to power through it and f'd everthing up pretty good.

My Syncro would have made it no problem

Just kidding, looks like there was at least one Subie involved in that mess (the one towards the end that got going damn fast down the hill).

Looks brutal, too bad some of those people involved in an earlier accident didn't just block off the road or something...

ouch. that really is a mess. its funny, though, to see everyone else try it even after others are wrecking. thats assuming that the later accidents witnessed the earlier ones.

Ice is fun...

4wd would NOT have helped, proper driver training might have, staying home WOULD have...

Portland is getting a little taste of the stuff we have been hammered with here in Washington. They showed that clip all over the news this morning.

The snow in this region is heavy and wet. When it falls on cold pavement you have instant ice.
