any credit bureau experts here? how to get false reportings changed?

a local bank has erroniously reported several fairly large (for me) construction loans delinquent (erroniously) and they currently have five secured loans totalling about $140,000 listed as unsecured. they also have one of those, my truck loan, listed four times.

surprisingly two of the agencies have my credit listed as 713 and 669. the third has it at 479.

when i tried to access my credit reports a month or so ago two of the agencies denied me access to my report.

my bank has known about all this (at least the first things) for nearly three years. unfortunatley they still are reporting things wrongly (like the secured being reported as unsecured). they say they are working on correcting it but i am not seeing much in the way of results.

is there a bank regulating agency that can put the spurs to them?

i would like to switch banks but with my scores screwed up it is a problem.

I thought there are 3 major credit unions to whom you can petition your case?

When I sold the TX house the closing company diddled around sending the $$ to the mortgage company. Consequently the mortgage company showed me with a late. I went on line to the two credit reporting agencies that were showing it and filed a dispute. It was all cleared up and fixed within three weeks.

I agree with the other posters. File your correction/dispute with all 3 credit bureaus first. There is no cost to do this and will likely result in the quickest resolution to your case. Good luck.

I thought the rules say they must remove deragatory reports within 90 days if they can't verify it?? This is the tactic used by the credit "correction" companies. They overload the bureaus with requests and the info has to be removed since the bureaus can't respond quik enough.

You can go the verify with the CB route but they rarely do what they are supposed to do. If you do choose that route write a letter disputing the item and BE SPECIFIC ABOUT THE DETAILS AND WHAT YOU WANT VERIFIED.

Route #2 which is my favorite is write the bank and tell them how badly you are are going to F--- them if they do not remove the item that they illegally put on your credit report within a specified period of time.

Be sure to send all of your correspondence registered mail. I think that is a big bunch of bullcrap as well because creditors do not have the same requirement before they stick their inaccuracies up your ass and make you fish it out with your fist.

You have a right to one free copy of your credit report per year.

Can you take it higher up the chain and hint at legal action?

Call the president of the bank, if you are a current paying borrower they will bend over backwards for you, you would be amazed at the accessibility of the bank president. Banks are spending huge amounts of money to attract new commercial clients and double that amount on keeping existing clients, low churn is the key to successful banking these days.

Just pick up the phone and call.

Tom,

It sounds like you have a very serious problem. It's possible you are listed as a fraud victim (potentially the reason for the denial from the credit bureaus?)

This issue is not going to go away, but only get worse. Everthing from purchasing insurance, car, home, line of credit, employment, etc. is tied to your credit score. Having detrimental information on your history only costs you more money over the years.

My gut tells me there is more to the story....why are you waiting to get this cleared up?

Hey, thanks for that info!!!!
Just printed out my full report and learned that a wrongful lien against me has finally been removed from my record by the people that placed it there. I don't even want to explain the trouble that has caused me in the past, but some of you have heard of my woes...
