Is this a good rifle for deer hunting?

I bet it's that poor flunkie in South Africa, unleashing a .557 T-Rex inside the glass box. 750 grain bullet + 198 grains of powder = 2608 FPS/BOOM!

I used to have a link that published the recoil of of the T/Rex, something like 200lbs right? Like shoulder dislocation territory.

There are plenty of other links that demonstrate the recoil on that monster!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQJSZs-euZU This one in particular shows several individuals firing the T-Rex, unaware of the "kick" they'll get later on! The last guy handles it like a pro, and gets a pat on the back from the guy who custom built it...

It is 130ish lbs of recoil, for comparison a 416 Rigby is 50ish and a 30-06 is 17 ish. A 460 Weatherby is 100ish.
A 12 Ga slug gun is in the 40's depending on the gun and load mostly in the mid 30's and that is brutal to shoot from the bench. |

Of course, the TRex is a weapon of last resort, intended to take down charging big game (elepahant, cape buffalo, etc) point-blank.

My Inghram underhammer set up with the carbine-length .54 barrel, shooting a conical and 150gr of FFg seems positively mild in comparison.

I am sure some poor SOBattempted to shoot that thing from a bench, would not doubt that a trip to the hospital followed.
Personally I don't shoot any hard or semi hard kickers without a Lead Sled anymore it reduces the recoil to almost nothing without blowing you scope up from the shock. A little pointer if you want to take advantage of your scope warranty hold the butt of your gun against a tree and shoot it, the scope mechanism will die instantly. |

I want to fire something with a ton of kick just for fun once or twice. I ran off about 5, 12 guage 3in magnum rounds real fast once and it hurt a bit, but nothing near that .557 round.
I need to get something that fires the a .50BMG.

The .557 t-rex was designed to be a guide gun for an absolute last line of defense for charging Cape Buffalo and Elephants. |

I looked up the .557 but could not find specs. How much larger is it than a .50bmg? The diamiter is about the same .510 vs .557 but judging by that video there is more to it.

The BMG is has a vented moving barrel and recoil is less than an average rifle, the military BMG has less than 30 lbs of recoil and the kick is soft unlike most rifles. Too me the worst ****** gun to shoot is a 10 or 12 ga SLUG from a bench, Heavy Shot bird loads and stuff will leave a bruise after a day of shooting but it take one slug to do the job. |
