Driver Training
Has anyone here had any "advanced" driver training such as police/fire driving, EMT, or even Skip Barber type courses? Was it beneficial?

I attended MB "On Track" last year at Pocono Raceway. We got a few lessons from the pros on how to pick the correct entry point (for braking) when going into turns, choosing the apex of the corner (for getting back on the gas), and rolling on and off the throttle smoothly, so as not to upset the car when exiting the turn. Leaving the pits in a new SL55 AMG, and going full throttle all the way around the first turn was a blast. We got to run about twenty laps in all the AMG cars. We also ran a timed precision driving event in the new SLK's. It was basically an obstacle course. I gained a whole new appreciation for what these cars are capable of.

That sounds like fun. I've always wondered what it would be like to go to one of the schools of high performance driving. I have a friend who takes one of his Porsches to those every now and then, but we've never really discussed what they did during the school.

My wife and myself go to "Fastrack" once or twice a year & drive last years NASCAR & ARCA cup cars. Mostly at Lowe's in Charlotte,NC.
I never have been able to push the cars to the limit; I reach my limit around 165-175 so far; they set the cars up to push so it takes some steering effort... the cars start acting totally different at higher speeds. I start getting vertigo... You get to run in a 4 to 6 car pack, tailgaiting so close you cant see the bumper of the car you are following;.. the air from car next to you is bouncing your car all around..... try that on a curved freeway onramp at 155mph and you get the idea. Driving those cars is like driving a jackhammer. www.fasttrackracing.com
