cleaning ceramic cooktop
We had some pasta overboil spill onto a Jenn-Air ceramic cooktop. Now that it's cool the sediment won't come off. www.jennair.com doesn't have downloadable manuals. What's the safe way to clean this cooktop? Can I scrape the sediment with a blade?
Thanks, Sixto 93 300SD 3.0 |

Spray with windex, let stand for 10 mins or so, then scrap with razor blade.

You should have a look at one of those Mr. Clean "Magic Erasers". Just wet it and rub. No chemicals in the product. The science involved is beyond me, but it works.

I've used automotive rubbing compound followed by machine buffing...
...now liquid spills just simply "bead"!

Go to "askjeeves.com" type in cleaning ceramic stoves, they have several ways to clean crusty stuff one of which is a razor blade at a 30 degree angle. i would get paper towls and soak in water, place on top of crusty stuff for 24 hours, the wipe the crusty spill off. They won't let me have sharp objects...

Try some Borax powder if you have any around. Amazing stuff.

No cleaning tips but next time have a cup of cold water next to your pot of boiling pasta. One drop lowers the temp enough for it to stop boiling over. If you don't have water ready you can just spit in the pot.

I use Bartender's Friend and swear by the stuff. I use it to clean my glass cooktop and all my All-Clad cookwear. It's safe and non-abraisive.
