Check out these speakers!

Apparently they can handle 20,000 watts

They remind me of the rock concert in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe where the attendees listened from concrete bunkers on another planet, because the music was so loud.

Yah it does. Zero watts, zero volume. Double the wattage input, 3dB increase in output, perceived loudness increases.

zero volts, zero power (and so on)

I ment; "Watts" is NOT a measure of sound volume.

You'd have to 5x the input wattage to receive a 10db gain. 10db is doubling the perceived loudness. a chart using the db @ 1watt/1meter is the only way to judge volue and responce on paper.

you mean "db @ 1watt/1meter at 500-3000 Hz", right? After all, loudness is nothing without frequency...?

Just being a smarta$$.

Provided no power compression which every driver suffers from.

In the real world doubling power does not equal +3db in spl. Matters get worse as the voice coil heats.

I'm not sure that snow horn would sound very good. Polar response is going to be all over the place due to horizontal combing between the messed up placement of MF, HF drivers. Loud is easy. I've had bass complaints from my 10KW system from four miles away using a center cluster of four 27hz horns. (Lab subs)

Yeah you are. Sones and phons are the only "true" measure of loudness.

Where were those guys 20some years ago, when I went to there?

If you have run out of places to go for the winter, the Winter Carnival is pretty neat to see - those guys can get pretty creative with Snow and Ice.
