I heard there's a Microsoft patch on the way because XP adn/or Office wasn't coded for the change.

Angry DST? Gahhh

And I wish it didn't hit at all.

The last thing we need in The Swamp is more sunlight. We already get 250 - 270 days a year of viciously hot and steamy weather; why make each nasty day appear longer?

The standard reasoning (you can be charitable and call it that) is, "We use less power with Daylight Saving Time." That's a load of burning cat crap, people. Do we wait until the sun goes down to turn on our lights? ("It's almost dusk, Muriel, fire up the floor lamp!") And since more sunlight is falling on our homes, we run the air conditioning more, not less!

An applicant for our department had a job market paper examining just this idea. He concluded that DST does not save any significant amount of energy, and usually means more energy gets expended. Nice to see somebody who isn't just swilling down the Kool-Aid.

Benz- Maybe we could swap residences during the winter....as for the daylight savings gig i believe it was initially started to help kids in rural farm areas who had to walk to bus stops and then it spun off into saving energy which its hasn't...i like that "load of burning cat crap."

I think Ben Franklin originally suggested DST, didn't he? Don't remember what HIS reasoning was.

Why doesn't Congress just make a law that gives us a 25 hour clock? I could use another hour of sleep.

Thumbs up *** A self-time-setting computer... ***

I installed this on my computers and during the last two time-changes, my computers were already in sync when I fired them up the next day.

It doesn't take up much space and depending on how anal you are about being exact with the time on your computer, you can set it to scan and update from as little as once-a-second (TOO ANAL) to as long as you want.

Have fun and don't be an MS-Beta Tester...
