Lesson for all.

Not sure if it could/would have helped you here or not, as you didn’t mention if he was 10+mph over in a left turn only lane.

Either way - Sometimes when your light turns green - It’s a good idea to take a look around before you “take off”. I don’t know about your area. But around here, you’d better count to three and look around before you jump on the gas when the light turns green. We’re full of folks that just love to push that yellow to the limit, and beyond. (sober, insured - or not)

Bummer that your insurance has to pick up the tab. Drunk bastard.

Glad you and yours are ok. That's the main thing.

I don't think he was. There was a left turn only lane and that was full of folks that stopped after their turn signal went off. IIRC he was in another lane which was to go straight. I did make sure the turn lane had stopped before I moved.

IIRC, the light turns green for turn only and then it goes off and the straight going traffic moves. He had no business turning from a lane that was supposed to be straight and he was going way above the speed limit.

Yes it was. That is why I am pissed. 1540 hrs and drunk with no insurance and hauling ass around a turn he should not have been making.

Yes, the truck is fixable and we are glad we are ok. Just a couple of bruises is all.

Glad to here your ok Aklim and still piss and viniger to boot!

Driving in sunny downtown New Haven I have learned the hard way to look before you go through an interesection, and just pucker up a bit. People there have a habit of running lights, and usualy continue to go through the light until your side has been green for a bit. Thats one reason I drive a Mercedes...

I'd fight the ticket, thats BS.

In that case (either way actually) - I’d be rather pissed myself. What a jackass.

I’d bet it’s not his first time either. Maybe his Karma will catch up with him this time and he‘ll learn something. (I wouldn’t bet on it though.)

Good thing is, he didn’t seriously hurt (or kill) anyone.

Lets see,

Small claims court for money owed in 94
Small claims court for money owed in 98
Battery, Intimidate Victim/Dissuade Reporting, Disorderly Conduct, Fortunately dismissed in 99
Domestic Abuse-Temp Rest Order in 99
Eviction in 04

Oh yeah, this guy is on a roll.

Yes it was. He was going fast enough to make the middle of his toy truck buckle so it must have been a bit faster than speed limit. Witnesses peg him at no less than 45 in a 35 or 30 zone.

Not that it’s up to us to play God.

But, sometimes - wouldn’t it be nice if you could know all this stuff before you jump out and render aid?

Years ago, I flew for (I won’t say the name of the air ambulance company), I can recall a few flight nurses admitting that it’s hard to be impartial to crash victims when the guy that caused it is so obviously drunk. Triage was one thing. But I recall seeing a few episodes where the med team was obviously leaning towards the innocent victims of the crash. Regardless of what the CRAMS Scales were saying.

It’s a Karma thing.

Ahh I missread!

A drunk driver very nearly killed my cousins boyfriend the day before thanksgiving last fall. Now he is going to have to get hip replacements at 25 years old, and is screwed up for life. The drunk driver of course was not injured at all and has a history. She will probably serve some jail time, thats it. I think she is only 18 or 19 so drinking underage, I don't even think it was her car. Her parents are currantly *****ing there pants because his attorny is going for blood. Still money doesn't fix it, but I think he would feel a bit better squizing a six or seven figure settlement out of them.

I think if you cause an accident because you were drunk you should lose your license for at least 10 years first offense, plus 5 years in jail. Second offense, license gone forever, jail 20, third offense a 9mm in the head and your family is charged for the bullet.

I do. Not certified but I know what to do. At least the basics of CPR. I also have the wife brush up my knowledge now and then when she goes for recertification. So, if the moment comes, I could probably do it but if the wife were there, I just take instructions since she is the better trained one.

Yes it is. That is something I have yet to master and my wife apparently has mastered.

I didn’t mean knowledge of the medical proceedures before rendering aide.

I meant having knowledge that he’s a real scum-bucket before rendering aide.
