I know. I pay by the year, but I think $13 a month is how they advertise it.

If I lived in a more rural area, I would want it even more. The large cities have more variety as far as radio broadcasts go. Where I grew up, there was very little to listen to other than country western, classical, or top forty.

They even play old radio programs like The Shadow, Sherlock Holmes, etc. I love listening to those.

Depending on where you go, some small town stations have refreshingly good edgy stuff. But take DC, where you would think there's radio nirvana. Here your choices are roughly divided into two categories: Black or Redneck.

The fellow I work with, bought a Sirius radio. I enjoy listening to First wave 80's music on it immensely. The comedy channel "Raw Dog" is also quite funny, although I wish some of the bits would last longer.
There is no other place where I can hear that kind of stuff, so I think it is great that they are in existance. However, if the price goes up, my colleague will ditch his subscription, and life will go on in spite.

If you like NASCAR, SIRIUS is the way to go.

Now you can add Hispanic to that. WHFS used to be my favorite station. Now they're playing Latino stuff. Of course, I can understand the thinking behind that. The DC population will soon be majority Hispanic, so it's probably good business. It just doesn't suit me.

Three categories here:
1. Black
2. Redneck
3. Commercials/endless chatter out the whazooooo!!

That's one reason why I love my XM radio.

Yeah, I think almost ALL broadcast radio now could easily be termed "Talk Radio." That's all they do, talk about products. It's not even the least bit entertaining. At least TV commercials are sometimes entertaining.

If corp. radio was smart, they could use their coast to coast antenna towers to broadcast 150 commercial free stations.

All of the towers broadcasting the same channels, non digital, for a small fee. It would be like the cellular towers. The unit would "scan" for the strongest signal.
