A majority of hybrid owners think they are top $hit... Big deal you drive a car that kinda runs off electricity. wooo.. who cares.. It still emmits pollution. Plus those idiots don't believe the new S Class is alot more environmently friendly than the prius... retards

I happened to see Dianne Keaton on TV and she was complaining that her Prius should be louder. She backed up over her dog who didn't hear it because it was in battery mode.

She said the dog was so fat that it didn't hurt him!

If they are giving one away, I'll take it. As I have said before. FWD cars that are running and less than $100, I'll take.

Ask them what happens to the batteries when they wear down.

Do you hate hybrids or their owners with the "holier than thou" attitude?

Utter rubbish. I guarantee the Prius makes noise when moving. The dog can hear it. Just because she is deaf doesn't mean the dog is also deaf. BTW, when does the electric part kick in? Not during startup, does it?

Total BS too. Find me a fat person and I'll hurt them with a Prius.

I dunno man, I've heard Priuses when they were on battery mode, or rather I didn't hear them. Backing down a driveway at 2 mph on batteries would be way quiet.

If the juice is up, they'll start off completely on battery power -- the plug in retrofits will run for about 20 min. - half hour on batteries alone.

That's hilarious.

A co-worker owns a Prius and those things are very quiet.

I am not sure that they are so quiet that a dog won't hear it though.

Recently, blind pedestrians have been complaining that Priuses are dangerous to them because they cannot hear them coming, like they can hear a regular gas engined car (or a diesel!).

Time to reintroduce some of the laws from the early days of motoring...
Like All Prius drivers shall have some one a bicycle precede them and warn pedestrians that a Prius ( with self-righteous owner) is coming. Probably need one to follow them to warn people and dogs when they back up--assuming the ( self-righteous)driver is oblivious to all events around them.

How come people never back over cats?

We should take the stupid beeping reverse signals out of snowplows working at 3 a.m. and put them into Priuses. People will sleep better and fat dogs everywhere will breathe (somewhat, depending on lung space to fat ratio) easier.
