new job interview
yaaay!
they are building a whole shopping complex by my house( .5 miles) and one of the stores is a Books a Million.. I had said to myself.. if they put in a book store I will apply!.. and.. BAM! there is a BAM... sure its #3 in book sales comapred to B&N and Borders.. I've got an interview tomorrow.. I'll feel it out and see what they have to offer compared to publix as long as they offer health insurance (I'm still covered by my parents until I'm 23) and can work with my schedule.. I'll bite I can pass up publix's retail bonus for a job I would probably like more...

That's great, Joe. Unfortunately, I have heard that book stores do not pay very well. I don't know about Publix, but the grocery stores in the DC area pay pretty well, I think.
I'd love working in a book store. Unfortunately, my paycheck would probably be in the negative every week.

Did you know that Starbucks gives full benefits to part-time employees? I just found this out from a friend who works there for the benefits.

I get paid crap as it is... but... If they won't match my crap pay.. I'll pass
I called a random BAM and inquired about starting wages.. which is minimum.. but they said a new store usually starts higher... yea.. it better be higher than $8.50 an hour... It is too bad you don't live near Burlington, NC or a couple of other spots in the research triangle. I could get a young motivated nerd like yourself (
 ) a six hour night shift as a lab tech getting paid $20+/hour. You'd like the job (unless you got one I had one summer counting sperm) and could still probably take 12 hours with no problem.
