Reactions: 92 BMW 850i Asking $13K

Any BMW experts out there?

Just saw it in the parking lot with a F/S sign on it. Waiting to speak to owner. Sign says asking $13K. I don't have the mileage yet. Blue with tan leather.

Not a cheap date. Full maintenance records are valuable.

Nice looking car, but I would fear the upkeep.

Same as above. I personally love them, but from what I've heard/read upkeep on them is killer.

I'm Done

I'm sure this is OK for most, but it's a 6 speed manual, and I'm strictly automatic. FWIW, 84K miles, sounds like it's been sitting for at least 4 years, some problem with the title. Limited service records.

My younger brother had one for a couple of years. Forget the exact year, but it was early 90s. His had the automatic. He purchased it in ~2002, so it was a good 10 years old at the time.

He did not have too many problems, and nothing high dollar. I think he repaired most issues himself, using the BMW roadfly forums for information. He did drive it cross country in the Gumball rally.

Run.

I could go into more detail, but it's not needed. Just run.

Unless you live nearby and want to bring it into the shop for all required work. Then buy it. Please. I've got my eye on some out of state acreage, and your purchase could well make it happen.

But otherwise, run.

I'm sorry, but I wasn't quite sure... Did I mention you should run?

If you like them, an 86.5-92 Supra looks the same, almost as fast, only 5 gears, and a whole lot cheaper. One rare time the Japanese car is better than the German, but I'm biased.

Beautiful car looking car. All looks. Too Heavy-weak handling compared to other cars. The v12 is outdated... only 300hp, that's a low output especially for a BMW. Like others have mentioned: the upkeep is a BIATCH. Nothing practical about the car whatsoever, but it sure looks good though. It's a true batmobile.
