Riddle me this:Is Microsoft being sued yet...if not, why not ?

After yet another bin full of patches to stop ...maybe ?.....criminal infiltration of your personal information....MS seems to be unable to write o/s software that is not acceptably secure......allowing the use of their software prior to knowing if there is a problem with it.

They are getting away with sloppy products and even worse support......thankfully I need neither !
The whole MS programme is full of holes and major redundant programmes...bloatware... that have nothing to do with working on line ....with all the bundling, they load up the o/s until it is top heavy and wonder why it don't work as designed......Blue Screen..Errors...freezing...and the like..

Read this.....http://mwillett.org/mind/microsoft.htm

I'm no fan of MS, for sure. Very complicated software that can do far more than most people need. I have become better with MS Word of late and am reasonably comfortable with it.

I solved all of my crashing problems with the addition of another 512MB memory bringing the total to 1024MB. Firefox was using a ton of resources and both Word and Outlook didn't like it much.

When the MS products are working........Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Excel.........they are really some fine software. Getting to operate them with skill takes some time, however.

For the record, Word opens in five seconds with a Pentium IV running 2.5 GHz. and 1024Mb RAM.

5 seconds seems excessive to me.. then again I am spoiled by the computer I built. Dual core 3800+ and 2GB of memory opens word in less than a second. And this machine isn't even any special anymore, at under 12 months old.

Do you build your own computer? I spent under 600 for my computer, which has the above mentioned CPU/memory. The most expensive thing was the video card at $300. Most non-gaming folk don't need that kind of card so you could build a computer for way under what I did. I admit I recycled my monitor, HD, optical drive, case, etc.

I worked on those name brand desktops at work and they were almost always a mess and a pain to work with. I could definitely see why people prefer Apples. I definitely would if I didn't build my comps.

Building my own computer isn't something that I feel compelled to do. This machine cost $700. after rebate four years ago. I also recycled my monitor, but it has all new drives, XP Pro, a 2 year warranty (since expired).

For that money, I'm not complaining. In fact, I really don't want to replace it..........the very first time I would say that after keeping a machine four years.

My IT guy has removed all exteraneous bloatware to the point that the system is very stable now.

System =
ShuttleX
IntelR
Pentium(R)4CPU 2.40Ghz
2.41Ghz 760MB or RAM
300GB Disk Drive
File sys NTFS
WindowsXP Pro
Drive E = FAT DVD-CD-R

He's disabled reporting and auto updating...debugged the printer software and I must say this sys' has not froze...blue screened or crashed for 5 month to date.

Prior to this I had issues that would involve days of work and support help.
I figure this alone has saved me more than his charges to build it.

If anyone needs a system that is very stable and runs well, PM me and I will see if he's accept your system to rework.

I have been trying to get him to start up his own business ...this might help.
