Driver faces 4 years in case that began with running a stop sign

Miscreant gets cute with evidence to try to beat small traffic citation:

Serves him right. Drove like an the typical DB.......pay the fine and move on. Perjure yourself in a valiant attempt to force a miscarriage of justice.........go to jail for six months and think about it.

Allegedly, it says there they can't prove anything against him, and admitted it?

Reminds me of a buddy back in Munich. He was stopped riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. The ticket was 10 bucks.

He proudly told his saga of how he took the case through every possibly instance ... for over a year

Hopefully, 6 month is the most he'll get. Prisons in this state are WAY over-crowded. Even 2 months would make him think twice about doing something that boneheaded again.

Apparently they think they have enough on him.

He'll be acquited, or however you spell it.. they don't have proof of anything, and his lawyer seems to be smart. Smarter than McMissile's lawyer anyways.

In fact I personally know the defendant's lawyer. Paul de Meester is a Belgian guy who used to be a San Francisco public defender, now practicing privately, and he knows his stuff, he is really good.

Interestingly, with a european background, he is a car nut, too. VERY keen on BMWs especially, he used to have a BMW "M" coupe as his personal ride.
He likes and knows Mercedes too, he is a really neat guy to talk about cars (or the law) with. I think he's a real good guy.

The San Mateo County Superior Court Judge in the case, Quentin Kopp, used to be a San Francisco Supervisor, and was a Conservative gadfly, and very controversial during his tenure there.

I used to work in Redwood City (where this occurred) and once made a BLATANTLY illegal U turn downtown to grab a parking space I saw, and was stopped by a LOE in a Police cruiser. I explained to him that I lived in San Francisco and this kind of thing was necessary if you wanted to get a parking space! And that this habit died hard. I pointed out the San Francisco Residential Parking Permit sticker on the bumper of the Buick I was driving, and he just laughed and let me go. Luckily for me he understood how tough it is to find a legal parking space in SF.

The guys an idiot for going through all that trouble to fight a $200 ticket. Just pay it, learn and move on.

What a waste of his time and money on something so pointless. He get what he deserves if he was messing with evidence.

That's kinda my thinking. You screw up, take it like a man.

4 years would be insane though. Hopefully they're just putting the fear o' God in him.
