But like I wrote, I don't want to hijack this thread.
You already did hijack the thread by expressing your personal dislikes regarding Gore. But that's ok.

BTW, it's not a smilie, it's a big, old grin!

First, one would have to know, what freedom is, in order to love it.
Showing so much resentment for a single one person doesn't indicate a high level of personal and inner freedom.

I wonder if you ever thought about, how your life would have unfolded if Castro didn't take over that Island of yours?

If on the other hand you are sooo free, you should write him a Thank You note, for having made those political chances that eventually brought you to paradise, the land of .. not milk and honey ... but the land of dollars and law-suits. And by law-suits I mean the suit you are wearing when you go to work ...

You wrote about Gore, apparently praising him. Therefore, writing my opinion about gore cannot by any stretch of your febrile, and overwrought, mind be considered a hijack.

What my life may or may not have been sans the f'ing bloody SOB, is a subject of personal speculation--which I find to be a stupid and meaningless exercise in futility; so I never do it. In any event, it is none of your business what my life, or the lives of countless victims of kastro's workers "paradise " (many of whom are now resting in the ground, courtesy of the bearded bastard) would have been sans the bloody SOB.

I would gladly trade all the money that my family and I have made, or may have made, just to have my Patria, my homelandd, back. I lost far more when my family left Cuba (and I don't mean money Guido) than I will ever have in the U.S. I am grateful for all of the opportunities that this great country has offered me, and I am grateful to my parnets who were willing to risk so much in order to come here. But don't ever thin, for an instant, that what I have here will ever make up for what I lost when I lost my Patria.

Like Jose Marti wrote: voy a morir sin Patria pero sin Amo.

I will die (here) without country, but also without master.

Don't ever f'ing presume to tell me, or any other exile, who like me was forced out of his land, leaving his heritage, his family, his traditions, his roots, his EVERYTHING, that his life is now better off (because he may be financially ahead). If you think that money can ever replace what I lost, you are a bigger idiot than you appear to be in your posts. And if I am well off now, it has been because of hard work and perseverance. No one has given me, or my family, anything that we did not work for. I've had to swallow a lot of bitter tears and put up with a lot of BS to get where I am. It has not been easy Guido and for you to even suggest that I should thank the beast, is plain asinine and stupid--and you are both an a** and stupid for even suggesting it.

I suppose that you also think that Jews who hate Hitler know nothing about personal fredoms. Or Vietnamese who hate Ho Chi Minh or Chinese who hate Mao Te Tsung, or anyone who hates dictartors.

There is something inside every honest man or woman that makes him/her hate oppression and dictatorships. That you cannot see or understand that is troublesome in so many levels.

Now, for the ban-risking statement.

You're a f'ing idiot and an a**hole.

There you go. If that is what you were looking for, you got it Guido.

Your questioning my commitment to freedom and liberty, w/o knowing what I am all about or what I do, and simply because I hate kastro (or any other dictator for that matter) makes you, in my book anyhow, a supreme idiot.

That you'd even insinuate that I should be thankful to the man who has brought so much misery and pain to Cuba and Cubans, just because I have been able to make a good living in this womderful land, makes you a f'ing idiot.

Now, go and cry to the mods.

I'd rather be banned for plainly stating my principles and standing up for what is right, than to go on with polite banter about changing oil or such other nonsense.

Now f**k off Guido.

Hey Benz-lgb, looks like I'm gonna get some company "in the corner".

Sometimes you just gotta say what you feel.

I guess since he lives in a big house, and has the big bills that go with it, then everything he says about global warming, and needing to find alternative ways to fuel our lives is all wrong.

Never mind. There is no global warming, and everything is fine and dandy.

Al Gore lives in a big house. So that solves that

I guess you could compare it to Reverend Ted Haggard. Hypocracy at it's finest.

Amen to that brother. Amen!

Call me the Howard Cossell of OD: "I call them as I see them!"

BTW, Cossell was a fellow lawyer!

I suppose that is a good excuse to not do anything about it. It's settled. Let's all waste energy because Al Gore lives in a big house.

I mean, the inventor of the compact flourescent (sp?) light bulb should live in a shack... and all those hydro-power engineers, they should live in beaver dams, right?

Ugh. Some folks are nice folks, but they just don't get it.

We are not denouncing the messege. It's the messenger that we have a problem with.

The remarkable thing about Al Gore is that his greatest accomplishments provide the material for his most strident critics. He was years and years ahead of his colleagues in promoting the internet. He should get credit for that. Instead he gets constantly pummeled with misleading accusations that he claimed to have invented it. The author of "Love Story" said something to the effect that he and Tipper provided his inspiration, so Al goes and brags about his romantic relationship with his wife. For most people his pride in his marriage would be an endearing thing. For Al it is the subject of endless dirision.

We will never know what would have happened if he won in 2000, but I cannot imagine that he would be worse than what we got. No way. I think that he and Hillary would both make good presidents, if the country would let them, but I don't see either of them getting a fair shake.

Gore's problem is that he doesn't let anything he's done speak for itself.

Agree. The problem is that most people can't relate to him. He's very intelligent and well spoken. People would rather see a person more like themselves in places of power. And that's why you get a joke like W as President. I once read that 92% of people would rather not speak in front of an audience... well... that says it all, doesn't it? W looks about as comfortable at a podium as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. So he puts on the tough-guy personal, squints, his eyes and talks-tough-Texan.

In reality, he is just a little boy that had to be coddled... just like his Mommy said when ask if she approved of him running for Gov. of Texas.

But hey. Water seeks it's own level -- so we're damed either way. We voted for a person most like us -- or we voted for Gore and Bush got the seat anyway.

Lose - Lose for the United States -- we have W... and instead we listen to the fact that Gore has a big house instead of the message.

In the end, Bush/Oil makes more money this way, and Gore stays seated as a "fool".

Sucks.

But yes, I do see the parallel. I think Gore would have made one fine televangelist. Didn't he even go to Divinity School for a year?
