I remember Clutch Cargo, but in all honesty could not stand it. There was no animation to speak of and those lips were creepy. After being weaned on Daffy Duck and Disney's animation this was big step backward.

Don't forget Spinner - the kid. Paddlefoot, if I remember, was a daschund. I think one of the tag lines was "Another exciting adventure with Clutch Cargo, his pals Spinner and Paddlefoot" or something similar.

I don't know what was worse, the lips-only style of animation of CC or the wide-eyed, extreme-action mouths of Speed Racer and his buddies. Just think about Pops Racer and how he'd yell & scream at Speed.....

my younger sibs watched it i think.

we didn't get tv til i was about 12.

but i read huckleberry finn when i was in third grade. and i started reading readers digest about then too.

and when i was 11 we moved into town and i got a paper route. with the money i earned i started buying road and track, rod and custom and hot rod magazines. and started buying 1/24 scale model cars and building, modifying and painting them.

and reading pretty much constantly including in class. i always kept a magazine or book inside my subject book, at least in jr hi.... except in gym and band class.

Yep, I always watched Clutch. I thought the moving lips were kinda cool-looking, personally. They looked like actual video or film of human lips superimposed onto a cartoon.
