LOVE the red roadster!

Hmmm maybe I should turn my 300CE into a low rider and play my War 8-tracks while cruising down Cesar Chavez Bl. in East L.A.

I used to have a collection of Hot Rod and Rod and Custom magazines from the mid-Sixties. They were filled with images very similar to the middle photo.

I believe the third roadster was filmed during the build on one of those TLC car shows..."Rides", I think.

The interesting part was how they went through great pains to do a body off/body on reconstruction trying to keep all of the paint and chrome intact. Despite their best efforts, fit geometry would guarantee some scuffing and marring here and there. Nevertheless, the crew would be taping off the imperfections, sanding off the damage, and airbrushing the affected areas! It's no wonder they are perfect when they arrive at the shows!

They're cool. They don't look right with 20" dubs and rubber band tires though.

I love them! One day I'm going to restore a 1969 Mustang Fastback. I almost did one insted of the SDL but the deal fell through. My friends dad had a rust free straight Fastback that he never got around to restoring, he was going to sell it to me for a grand. My Uncle has a nice red one, its got tons of Shelby parts and is crazy fast.

Many of those types of cars don't really appeal to me, but, like the various choppers being made on tv, I have to admire the bilders. From the looks of many of these guys I wouldn't invite them home to dinner, but, you really have to give it to them for their creativity and craftsmanship. Many of those cars/bikes are real works of art.

Hat!

My ex-stepfather (MHRIP) bought a '64-1/2 / '65 (Never did find out EXACTLY what the OFFICIAL year was on it...) 2+2 Fastback. Black interior, white exterior, the original "mag" wheels that came on the 'tangs. If I remember correctly, the speedo topped off at 140, and that ba5tard was always trying to get there! He didn't care who was riding in the front, back, under the trunk lid, he just wanted to go F****ng FAST! One ride, I caught a peak at the odometer and he had it just about to the top...130'ish! About 9PM on HWY 41, heading north out of Oshkosh towards Neenah. I didn't think I was going to make it to my next birthday.

I see that picture looks to be a '66 or so. Right?

BTW, even for a little puke like me, there was, still, no room to sit in the back seat of those things. The worst ride, for back-seat passengers, I believe is the Ford Torino (68-69?). I had to turn my feet (size 7-1/2) side-ways because I couldn't get my toes underneath the driver's seat. Most painful 2.5 hours in a car in my life. I rode home with a different person.
