No, i don't see any safety concerns, why don't you try it and tape it, with narration on exactly what the problem areas are.

I see nothing wrong with it, and would do it at the first opportunity. Of course I am kind of saving everything I can for my next skydive.

Well, of course, bunge cords never break and the means of attaching them to the poles couldn't possibly get weak and break.
