Don't Think

It seems a stretch to me to think that all forms of 'to be' appear as Aristotelian essentialism. It'd even go so far as to say that all forms of 'to be' are not examples of Aristotelian essentialism.
'To Be' is a very troubling verb but the trouble is more than verbal. Do we just appear to be or do we really exist?
To apply E-Prime gives all the ground to Buddhists before the discussion even begins.

Buddhist thought allows a lot of latitude. It's troublesome in dualism, yonder onto open fields? Yes, it only allows the mind to flow.

Aren't nouns equally troublesome? To use the word 'mind' implies there is such a thing about which we can predicate something.

Lt. Commander Data speaks like that. :)

A world with no propositions entails a world with no logic.

Nothing exists.

I agree though, unequivocally, that Beethoven really is better than Mozart. Beethoven was a hundred times the composer that Mozart was.

Precisely why I thought it conceded all the ground to Buddhism.

This thread has made me think the ontological argument is pretty interesting. Since 'Nothing exists' doesn't make any sense since the noun 'nothing' is something, it implies there actually 'is' something. Hence if something really 'is' in the strongest sense, it must be God.
So the choices are to avoid language altogether, or accept the view that language implies God.

All languages imply the Absolute.

Ok. I know you are, and are not the swede.

But when I type to you, I will think of it as going to see the swede without seeing the swede.

The Swede 03-02-2007 01:33 AM

Argh..

I'm going to a bar. How 'bout the Poodle Club?? Aye Kuan? :)

I didn't read the OP, I have to get my reading glasses :o
But, what I see reminds me of an episode when I was a little boy.

Sombody had written on a trashcan "Nobody is perfect".

So, me not knowing much of anything, thought:
'Wow, I wonder who is this mysterious person, called Nobody'

Well, youth, sweet youth....
