the 289 cobra is still my fav. i still remember the first time i saw one drive through greencastle indiana in 65. american racing blue. wire wheels.

the next memory about them is seeing a team cobra run at indianapolis raceway park in an scca race with bob johnson at the wheel of #95. sadly i am pretty sure that i will never catch up with the values and own one. perhaps one day i can own one of the excellent aluminum bodied copies.

The Dynaco has a unique feature. One of the pins on those eight-pin sockets is connected to the cathodes of the output tubes. These were connected through a small value resistor to ground. The value of the resistor is such that you should see 1.56V at that pin on the preamp power socket if the plate current is correct, and there's a potentiometer to set the bias. Of course, you have to unplug the preamp power cord to make the adjustment.

My collection of firearms and amunition, and accessories such as sound supessors and so on is quite large. My whole home is entirely double walled. Currently, up-wards of 5000 guns, in the house, plus ammo, for all, and accessories. I've also got climate contoled gun safes in almost every corner. I've got enough legal, and illegal firearms enclosed into my house to put most sporting goods stores to shame. Everything was legally purchased, but much of it has been outlawed for sale since. This means that they can stay in my name, and hands, but I can't re-sell them, they need to be destroyed, if I get rid of them. Many, many guns, of all kinds as well as parts, ammo, and a lot of other stuff to go with them. I'm a licensed class III dealer, so I can hold many items the general public can't touch. Such as the silencers, and fully automatic weapons. I don't deal in them though, and have the licensing strictly to allow me to make purchases, and use them ,myself.
Most of the guns, however, have never been fired, and probably never will be at all. They're fun to play with, if you use them safely, store them in an approved manor, and make use of things such as Gun Safes, enclosed, out of sight storage, and more importantly trigger locks, and removing components, such as bolts, and firing pins, etc. Lots of fun to buy, and play with at first, but kind boring after you look at them, a little while. Not something you can even let the neighbors see,and definately not carry around anywhere. Not nearly as cuddly as say, a teddy bear collection, or something like that, but a little more bang for the buck if you are into this sort of thing.

trukinik,
I do not know firearms laws. You say that they must remain in your name and possession or be destroyed. What a pity!
If you ( or your estate ) wanted to give them to a museum would that not be allowed? It seems a shame that destruction of them is the only option. I bet if you were to contact Bill Atwater -he is the curator of the museum at Aberdeen Prooving Grounds, he might be able to provide some guidance. Bill is the guy you see on some History Channel shows handling some weapons from the collection. He always werar gloves to prevent damage to weapons. I met him once- he is a real down-to-earth guy; not the least bit impressed with his little bit of celebrity.

Indeed Sir, my library is so choked with obscure tomes that it is nearly impassable,or as my wife says Jackassable

Yes, it seems like bibliophilia is something you either get or it totally eludes you. For me it's not OWNING them so much as just being among them. I used to love sitting in the library when I was still in school, surrounded by books. It had a nice, peaceful feeling.

Of course, back then I used to wonder if I would ever be able to do anything that somebody would be willing to pay me for. I could be content just being a full-time student for the rest of my life.

Do you not ever feel embarrassed say a day or so after you post stuff like this? Just curious. I don't really think anyone here would care if you just posted in reality instead of your imaginary life--rather, it would be welcomed.

I could be wrong here, but - I’m thinking that if anyone had “upwards of 5K” guns in a single collection, we that are interested in firearms would know all about it via:

A. We’ve toured the museum collection.
-or-
B. We saw the ATF/FBI raid plastered all over CNN.
