Dehydration is a major cause of muscle cramps. I wouldn't worry too much about adding sodium to your diet. Just make sure you drink more water.

Gabapentin,or Neurontin is quite effective as well, providing you know a "sympathetic"physician.............

Carleton, you have the Jimmie Legs? I get that at night while I'm trying to sleep usually. I used to take quinine, which helped. I have started taking potassium supplements as well as eating lots of brocholli, caulliflower, and bananas, lately. I guess they are helping some. Getting old just sucks sometimes.

. . . Of course, it still beats the alternative, as they say!:D

I've occassionally experienced charlie horse before. But only on one leg and never while walking and never so painful.

I was down on my knees for a good 5 minutes (I am sure that it must have looked funny to passerbys). anyhow, I was able to eventually get up and made my way back home.

All the way back my legs both hurt. (Calf muscle).

The pain would lessen if I lengthened my stride. But if I stopped walking it would really hurt.

You guys know anything about charlie horses?

Any of you guys ever experience anything similar?

it's not nice to fool "mother nature."

dee8go- it's probably because in your sleep your still trying to run away from ex-wife #3.....

That might explain why I wake up in a cold sweat and feeling like I'm destitute . . .

. . . Oh, and it's only number two, by the way.
