Do You Tip the Audio Installer?

Excuse the dumb question. (Tried this on Audio, and no takers.)

I'm having a free head unit installation done at Best Buy today. Should I tip the installer, and if yes, how much, and should I tip before the installation?

It's a low end Pioneer, but I want a decent job done.

Besides heat shrinking and (maybe) soldering wires, is there anything else I should ask to have done?

Doesn't hurt. My wife brings cookies for the techs. She gets real good service.

I always had the work done by the supervisor, because he wouldn't let any of the other lackies touch a Mercedes. And, he wouldn't take a tip.

I always tip the installer. I buy him a few beers, but I also drink them all.

I wouldn't let even the supervisor at Best Buy get within ten feet of my car.

I do some of my own car work, but I basically spend all my "free time" coaching kids (for free). Baseball, basketball, soccer....

This weekend I'll be out fixing up our ballfield so they kids have a nice safe place to play.

If Best Buy wants to install my head unit for free, I'll let them. If it saves me an hour or 2, I can use the time.

So cut me some slack and give me a helpful answer.

Thanks (and remember, don't bust your kid's coach's chops.)
;)

Here's a helpful answer. While it might not happen, you won't be pleased if the installer breaks something in your dash. Sometimes free just isn't worth it.

Yeah... but it's equally likely (or more so) that I would break something when I do it.

It pays to know your limitations.

cant detect sarcasm over the internet....

I've just had bad experiences with best buy installing stuff in cars my family owns..

The manager of that dept put a head unit in my step dads aveo with a manual tranny..the tard forgot to put it in neutral so when he turned the car on to test everything it lurched forward and smacked a support pillar and fubar'd the front bumper... they covered it but.. come on.. what a bunch of idiots
