GPS question
Does anybody make a GPS unit that all it does is measure speed? I would like a small, portable unit to calibrate boat speedos.

I have a little Garmin Etrex Legend that does a good job of giving me the speed. Its almost dead on from the tests I have given it. Not to mention its waterproof, and about 100 bucks!

Radar guns work well if you just want speed over water.
Any cheap GPS should give you speed over ground, don't forget to account for currant...

Uncorrected GPS can have positional errors of 3-10 m/sec. That is, the position reported could jump 3-10 meters in a second. If you need accuracy you are better-off with laser or Radar.

I was hoping to find a tiny hand held gizmo that would be really handy.
