Question 3M Clear Bra

I just purchased a new 07 S550 and the dealer suggested that I have a Clear Bra kit placed on the front bumper, grill, hood and side-view mirrors back to protect them from rocks, etc. The cost is $900. Is this advisable and is this a good price?

I was at the dealer last week and black 550 was on the showfloor with this option. Nearly seamless.

Being that it's black, I'd go for it. However, you might want to check some reputable detail shops that offer the same product and compare prices.

It is Black. I will look for a reputable dealer with competitive price.

Thanks,

I'd go for it. I have seen it on a lot of new cars and unless you really look close its not visable.

I don't know if the dealer is over charging or not, get a few more quotes.

They should throw it in for free considering its an S550, cheap ******.

Do it. My boss has it on his black CLS, and the front is perfect after 15000 mixed (freeway and city) miles.

That's NOT the kind of Bra I was hoping to read about/see.

I've always wanted one, but blew it off. A friend of mine has an '02 Suburban and his is starting to crack after four years - my advice is this: I love the ClearBra and think it's a great idea, but if you leave the car out in the sun a lot, skip it because it'll fade and crack after a few years (if you keep the car for that long).

Don't those trap water next to the paint and flap in the wind wearing out the paint? I'd like to see a car that has had on one for several years,,, used to be people told me they couldn't take their bra off because it looked like **** under there.

Its not a strap on bra (thats a funny statement). It is applied like vinyl graphics.

No flapping strap ons.

Hey! Hey! Quit putting the word "Bra" in your message header if you're not going to talk about the lacey kind you put tits in. What do you think this is, a car forum?!

do it, the clear bra is practically stand equipment on new Ferrari's. Have them put it on the mirrors and the door latch as well or anything else that is scratch prone.

I have it on my good cars... worth it. However, be careful as prices can be all over the board.

3M film

I have the clear bra on my 2005 SLK350. The nose of the car is chip free (only 9,500 miles). The car is now for sale and should help in resale value.

It is not necessary to have a dealr install the film. Check 3M's web site for qualified installers in your area.

I looked at them 2 months ago when I bought my new car.
The dealer had the identical car on the showroom floor, with the 3M installed.
Just could not get myself to do it to my car.
If you decide to go for it, rest assured the dealer will just call a 3M rep. and have him install it, while he is pocketing a nice mark-up on the job.
