Health Insurance Premium Billing Question...
Right now I pay $170 a month for my health care.
I get a letter in the mail saying that my premium is going up from $200 to $220. Ok? Well, it isn't $200. It's $170. So... what do I do? |

Pay it, start a health savings account or go without and hope like hell you won't need it but you probably will sooner or later.

BC- Is that just for you or do you have a family plan?

Damn... I am really starting to appreciate my crappy-hourly-pay state job... with benefits.

First, have your leg looked at. Is your employer covering a portion of this premium? $170 is very low. My premium is a lot closer to Carlton's than yours.

The family coverage for Kaiser where I work is $1100 a month. Yeah, if you have benefits like that you're doing pretty well.

$200 is cheap. Price out the cost of group health care on your own. I think its about 1000- 1500 in Colorado.

No family plan.......just me.
It does allow very small co-pays........$5.00 or so.........and has no annual deductible.........and it's a PPO plan..........but it's still quite high. |

Actually, it's not as high as it would be if I had no organization to belong to. I'm a member of an organization for small businesses that negotiates a plan on behalf of a larger group. Without such a plan, the figure would be north of $700. per month.
I can get it down to about $325., but, it includes a $30 co-pay and a $1000. deductible. By the time you add the nickles and dimes, you're right back where you started. |

That is paid for by me -- self employeed. It isn't a very good plan. Horizon BC/BS - EPO... I'm wondering if I should call them and ask them what the deal is...
