Porsche 911 (1987-1989) - Shop Forum Anywhere?

I just bought a 1989 Porsche 911, and am wondering if anyone knows of a forum like this to obtain and share technical information?

Oh YESSSSS...

Go to www.rennlist.com and find the link to their technical forums.

You will find LOADS of posts on your newly aquired 964 (1989-1994) chassis p-car.

Also check out www.p-car.com. That site is predominantly for the 993 chassis
(1995-1998) but as I recall there are some DIY things for 964's as well.

I really, REALLY enjoyed my 993...prior to our two boys coming along. I ended up turning it into a 2002 23' Cobia Center Console for almost a 1:1 trade. They hold their value fairly well. Hopefully you won't have to find that out for a while!

You're going to have a LOT of fun with that car! Good luck!

Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

Thanks very much. I've actually have the last of the 3.2 Carrera model, sold in 1989, just before they produced the 964. The 993 is a fantastic car, and something I plan to get down the road, when their values drop a bit.

Ahhh...then www.pelicanparts.com has some technical forums as well that will help you out. They're also a great source for parts.

They seem to be a bit more interested in the "vintage" Porsches over there and I believe yours qualifies

Porsche Technical Info

Thanks very much to both of you. That's 4 sites altogether, which is most helpful.

hello
Pelican parts is excellent and by far the best out there as far as technical stuff/help. They are a bit harsh on newbies though so search before you ask the same question 200 people have already. I own an 87 carerra, and love it, and do nearly everything myself on it. I recommend getting the bentley manual and asking questions when you want to do a repair.
Good luck and PM me if you need anything else.

PS rennlist is ok, but I don't like that you have to be a member. Read excellence mag too.

Porsche 911

Jonathan:

Thanks very much for the tip. I trust Pelican has a good technical search capability, like ShopForum has. Anyhow, I've had an order in for the Bentley manual for 3 weeks now, through Amazon, and am still waiting anxiously, as I've noticed that the Chilton manual is altogether inferior.

A valve adjustment and other 15,000 mile service items are on my list of things to do, and being new to 911s, I want to see what peculiarities I will be facing in that regard before tackling it.

Chris
