One graduated w/in a week after the indictment was handed down.

The other two were sophomores when they were suspended by those worthless, cowering administrators at DUKE. I am a prosecutor, but by god, I still believe in the idea of presumed innocent until proven guilty. The administrators at DUKE should have waited for the legal process to finish before taking action against the two players.

Each of the sophomore players lost a year of school. They even applied to other schools, but were not admitted, pending the end of the case.

Plus the whole lacrosse season was wiped out and the rest of the team was punished. Even the coach was forced to resign.

The whole affair was disgraceful.

If the victim was white, the case would have never been filed and the players wold not have been suspended (even if they had been charged).

I wonder what the racial make-up of the grand jury that indicted the players was like?

A whole year of school (plus a whole year of their lives) lost due to: 1. a crazy (to say the least) woman and 2. a DA, (in the middle of an election) pandering to special interest groups.

Well, if the victim had been Asian or hispanic, what do you think would have happened?

I was just curious to find out what evidence they had to even press charges? None of the DNA on the accuser matched any of the players. Was the DA just taking somebody's word on something like this and running?? Disgraceful disrespect for the player's rights.
Can you use two dis words in a row like that??

1. disbarment.
2. Hefty punitive damages. Ruin the azzhole.
3. Send him up for a stay in the place he would have sent these boys. Let him find out what rape & abuse is all about.
It went beyond malice. DA Nifong mishandled the case from the very beginning.

1. The "victim" had a prior history of making accusation(s) of being gang raped. That should have raised a HUGE RED flag and the DA should have proceeded with extreme caution before filing charges.

2. The DA failed to turn over evidence that DNA tests on the victim (and her underwear) revealed the presence of genetic material from several "sources" but none of it matched the accused. That is another HUGE RED flag.

3. The photo line-up was extremely suggestive. The accuser was shown photos of all the players from the lacrosse team and then she was told that these were the team members! She could've picked any three from that line up.

I agree with you on the pound of flesh, especially #2. Money will not make these guys whole again (for the rest of their lives there will be a black cloud hanging over them). But money does bring a certain measure of comfort.

This is what happens when the entire country bends over backwards to pander to special groups.

DA Nifong was running for reelection against a Black candidate, in a predominantly Black county. He addressed Black groups and promised them that "justice" would be done.

You do the math...

Incidentally, so this does not turn into a Black vs. White issue.

From the very beginning, the sole voice of reason was coming from a Duke law professor. He kept saying that there was something wrong with the way that the case was being handled.

The professor's race?

Black!

Not everyone can be pandered to....

I still have one question about this case:

Was there anyone else at the DA's office looking at the "evidence" in the case and asking WTF are we doing?

Did anyone think to advise the DA that he had no case?

Or is everyone in that office a yes man or woman?

But what if that someone enjoys the sensations experienced at the end of the whip?

For instance, it would appear to me that Imus would enjoy the receiving end of a long session with the latigo.
