Its horrible!! Some people might say he was acting out video games or violent movies. I think that some people are just nuts. I send out my deepest sympathies for the familes of those involved. College is anything but cheap. All that hard money worked for and saved up, and then something like this happens. Its like you said, "It's a damn shame!"

I'm suspecting, once they piece the whole story together, that there were warning signs in this guy's behavior that people didn't notice or ignored.

There may have been warning signs and maybe not. With Columbine, those kids were living at home, technically under the supervision of parents, for what that was worth.
When you're dealing with a college situation, it's not as easy to tell what goes on with people. As a freshman, I was in a suite situation, where there were three bedrooms, one shared living room and one bathroom. Some folks won a 'lottery' and were allowed to pay extra for a single occupancy bedroom. There was one guy we rarely saw, really didn't know anything about, and never saw inside his room, as he kept odd hours. After that first year, none of us really never saw him again.
As a junior, I won one of those lotteries and was able to share a two bedroom apt. on campus with one other guy. We barely saw each other and really never knew what the other was up to.
It turns out he's a comedian now.
With commuting students, there were those that attended classes and I never had any interaction with otherwise, so that's a whole other matter.

Please dont get all spun out... I am not blaming ANYTHING listed above as the cause for this tragedy...The cause is the JERK pulling the trigger..

I suspect that the things listed above helped fuel his fantasy/anger...Time will tell.

My thoughts are that this guy got rudely alienated by his fellow students in the engineering department. Perhaps led by a person that lived in that particular dorm/floor.
That, and/or his GF broke up with him. As it seems he had a deliberate motive around that particular dorm (and floor) and the engineering department across campus. If he just wanted to kill people, he could have stayed in the dorm. This guy seemed to have an issue with the engineering dept. Otherwise - why make the walk after you’ve started shooting?

Perhaps he failed a course/test and disgraced his family who then cut him off. (We had a guy commit suicide via C172 and another hang himself in his dorm room at ERAU (Daytona) when I was there for that very reason. Sad. )

Who knows?......Just a sad, sad day.
I haven’t heard anything since this morning. I’m kind of staying away from it.


BTW - Young Benz - I’m sure there are no families of the victims thinking anything about any money, saved or spent. For the loss of innocent life alone - It’s a damn shame.
