Another weird WI Story

Mistaken identity: Man hands police pot pipe instead of license The Reporter Staff
A $500 cash bail was ordered today for a 35-year-old Fond du Lac man who was arrested early Sunday after he handed an officer a marijuana pipe instead of his driver’s license.

Thomas E. Bartow Jr., 44½ N. Main St., made an initial court appearance this morning where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Bartow was apparently intoxicated when officers found him passed out in a bathroom stall at the Ramada Hotel, 1 N. Main St., around 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a Fond du Lac Police Department report. He was fully clothed and sitting on a toilet.

Officers shook Bartow several times before he responded. They asked him if he knew where he was and Bartow replied, “yeah, West Bend,” according to the report.

The officer asked Bartow for identification and Bartow pulled out a yellow and gray marijuana pipe and handed it to the officer, the report said. The officer again asked for identification, and Bartow took out his checkbook, ripped out a check and handed it to the officer.

The officer then asked Bartow to exit the bathroom. Bartow walked out of the hotel and started walking down Division Street, ignoring the officers’ orders to stop, according to the report.

Officers used a Taser gun on Bartow after he continued to be uncooperative, according to the report. He was arrested and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.

He told officers he’d never seen the marijuana pipe before, according to the report.

They didn't say if the guy wrote a discernable amount on the check to the officers? Perhaps they tazered him since it NSF'ed?

The closer to WI (East side of the Mississippi), MN side of weird story:

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (AP) -- Lisa Perry wants a fresh start. So she's decided to sell nearly all of her belongings in one massive auction on eBay.Perry, 45, said the top bidder in the auction, ending Thursday, will get more than 300 items -- including snowshoes, a futon, a bed, a Village People album, seashells and more.
Perry is keeping just a few things: her dog, her cat, photo albums and some clothing.
"This might be mid-life, but it's not a crisis. It's mid-life excitement," she said. "I don't need it all. I don't use it all. I just have it all. Actually, it has me."
Perry has worked as a lawyer in Montana, a communications professor in Mankato, Minnesota, and a bookseller in North Carolina. She now delivers subpoenas and legal documents. In June, she plans to move west, possibly to take up creative writing or holistic healing.
"I've been schlepping this stuff across the country for more than 20 years," she said. "I'm tired of thinking: 'Oh my God, what if it breaks in the next move?' Who cares? I think it will almost be scary how liberating it will be."
As of Sunday night, the top bid was $100. Perry has a reserve number of $2,000, which means she can back out if the top bid falls short of that. But she said she might lower the reserve.
"I'm at the point I just don't want it all anymore," she said.

There was a story about a guy trying to get it on with a Dead Deer. Oh Deer.

Man has sex with dead deer, gets probation
March 21, 2007

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) -- A 20-year-old man received probation after he was convicted of having sexual contact with a dead deer. The sentence also requires Bryan James Hathaway to be evaluated as a sex offender and treated at the Institute for Psychological and Sexual Health in Duluth, Minn.

"The state believes that particular place is the best to provide treatment for the individual," Assistant District Attorney Jim Boughner said.

Hathaway's probation will be served at the same time as a nine-month jail sentence he received in February for violating his extended supervision.

He was found guilty in April 2005 of felony mistreatment of an animal after he killed a horse with the intention of having sex with it. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail and two years of extended supervision on that charge as well as six years of probation for taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent.

Hathaway pleaded no contest earlier this month to misdemeanor mistreatment of an animal for the incident involving the deer. He was sentenced Tuesday in Douglas County Circuit Court.

"The type of behavior is disturbing," Judge Michael Lucci said. "It's disturbing to the public. It's disturbing to the court."

Hey Ted. He is in your neck of the woods now, isn't he?
