Any thoughts on this Euro 126 280sel?

I'm considering checking out this euro 1985 280sel on ebay. It appears the rear was hit slightly and the listing say's it "shakes" on cold acceleration. Any advice and comments would be welcomed.

The "up for grabs" description is poor salesmanship.

Hmm... Since the thing is a mess on wheels, I'd low ball $1500.

Any particular reason for "mess on wheels" comment? Does it look/sound that bad?

Check it out, It's worth that much atleast. Go from there. I'd like a full report on it after you look at it (if possible), as I am testing my ability, to judge vehicles, Items and sellers, on ebay. I won't tell you what I think, so as not to put any good, or bad ideas in your mind about it. I'd like to see, if my vibe, is correct. Simply based on what I know so far, w/o looking at it directly. Just a curiosity thing mainly.

No denying it needs some TLC, but it doesn't look like a basket case either.

'a tiny mistake with the miles' brings up a red flag too.

but if the rest of the car is clean that section in the back can be pushed out and cleaned up fairly easily.

those euro bumpers dont offer much protection do they?

the m110 engine is a very very durable piece. in euro trim that car will be pretty peppy with it. 185 hp with a lot of torque and probably only about 3500 pounds of car to push around.

dont pay too much for it though. this is not a "no stoires car".

this car would be totalled with that amount of damage so that guy may have bought it for three or four hundred.

dealers dont want to fool around with an older car like this with any issures at all... probably not even if it were clean.

it may well make a very nice driver, but it is not worth too much.
