Well... I did it

Thats right I won my CAD(computer aided design) competition

CAD 3D engineering... What I had to draw in 3 hours was a 2 stroke model airplane engine 1/2 scale...

I had everything except an assembly view ... and I won.. 7th year in a row my chapter has won this event.. plus the other three CAD guys got two 1st places and one 3rd.. a first in CAD 3D Engineering Animation(2 stroke engine animated.. ill see about getting the.avi and hosting it), and CAD 3D architechtual visualization (walkthrough and such of a house).. and third in CAD 2D architechtual..

Woot now I get to go to national competition in nashville in june... and lock heed might here about me

Solidworks FTW

What program are you using? I have training on Unigraphics NX4 and Catia V5. Congrats. My team of 4 reverse engineered an R/C model into NX4, and then designed a new body and chassis to make it a diesel hybrid. Many long hours in front of the screens for us.

Solidworks.. It is the best.. I can take my part and open it up in photoworks and make it look as real as ... real..

I've done some reverse engineering but mainly on mechanical things.. rear end or two, a four stroke engine... I want to do a transmission.. oh the fun..

I havent heard of NX4 .. I do have autodesk inventor (latest version) and solidworks .. Ive used pro engineer... 3D modeling is the best their is..

Great news, Don! Industry is dying to hire people with your enthusiasm and demonstrated ability.

One of my brothers is an ME at Johnson Space Center directing work on hatches for the shuttle replacement. Got his BSME at UTA working mostly with AutoCad but his group now uses ProEngineer almost exclusively because of it's modeling capacity, primarily, but also for it's ability to handle very large database problems. He started out wanting to be an auto engineer and worked on competitive team projects designing various parts and the final product was a car they took to Detroit, IIRC.

There are lots of possibilities out there for you at this time in you life. Go for it!

Congrats, Don. I am truly impressed. I love mechanical drawing.

I use AutoCad at work and have alsways wanted to learn to do more with 3D drafting, solid modeling, etc. Have you ever used Inventor? I get notices about it, but don't have time to go to the seminars.

Glad to hear that. I hope all goes well, in Tenn. also. I hope you kick as much a$$ over there, as you have so far. I'll be very curious, and I'm shooting for you man. Awesome news, and Congrats, again.
