The old 6.3 is a favorite, but with leather. I can't believe Benz made a top of the line car with velour. I mean there's rosewood veneer, plush carpets, a kickass engine, a sophisticated suspension, a long wheel base, and--velour?

Those old 6.3 sedans are so stately and elegant, and quick!

First one of them I have seen with the Euro velour seats, and it's been really restored beautifully. Definately at or near show car status, and not really for daily commuting, though it would serve that purpose well.

It's one of the best ones around, and it has been beautifully presented with text and photos in the advertisement.

If it has been in California since 1970, why are the California blue plates from Los Angeles, 1978 issue? Perhaps car had personalized plates removed when it changed hands that year? But even the blue plates are in excellent condition.
If the seller can't get any interest at his price over here, he should consider
that this car would definately sell for a pretty pfennig to an enthusiast in Germany. They aredifficult to find in such good shape that over there.

I like the velour.

Thats a very clean car, if I were 6.3 shopping that would be the kind of car I'd be looking at. Look how clean that thing is underneath! Thats what counts a good solid rust free body. If the bones are good its a solid keeper that will hold its value.

No he won't Now if it was Black on Black....well maybe.

That car is really close, about 8 miles away from here. Lots of old folks with BIG houses.

Anyone notice in picture 24 how it still has 0.3 bar of oil pressure at key position 2?

That could be a 6mpg car. But if you can afford the price and use as 2nd or 3rd car only Sundays, the mileage would not matter much

from the car description
Quote:

History: I purchased the car from the second owner in Newport Beach, California about 2 years ago. ... He restored the car about 10 years ago, and it was a reflection of his infamous paint and body business, which was notable for painting many award winning 300SL’s and other classic MB cars.
infamous?

Its very nice. But so perfect.

I'd be making sure no one ate in it and they took their shoes off before they got in. I'm not sure how much fun that would be for me. I like to drive my cars.

One thing he did do was take out the stock radio and replaced it with the same Alpine head that I used to have in my daily driver.

I understand wanting to have good sound - but there are ways to do that without making obvious changes. And the Alpine is so wrong and out of place in his perfectly finished dash.

Like that velour a lot. A lot quieter and grippier than hard creaky old leather too.

Velour was a special order extra cost option on all W126's. Some people just hate leather.

I have seen it in Pullman's as well.

Yeah I noticed that to. On a car of that caliber I expect the stock head unit to be in place, but it doesn't have to be hooked up. Thats what those hidden sound systems they make are for.

For $40k is a lot of money, for that I'd expect damn near perfection. If he was asking less well ok then there is room to fix all that.

Bidding is now at $28,100.00, and reserve appears to have been met.

It was a no cost option for the W126, as was metallic paint.

Velour was trick stuff in the 60's boys!

I am coveting those rims. Do they come in a 15"? Call me nuts, but I;d like to throw some on my 95.
